President Donald Trump has donated his salary to the office of the Surgeon General to support the funding of an upcoming public health advisory, USA Today has reported.
It was said to be his third salary donation to the Department of Health and Human Services since the President assumed office.
“The President recognizes the important mission of the Surgeon General to protect and improve the health of all Americans, including helping to tackle the opioid epidemic and raise awareness of the dangers of e-cigarette usage among teenagers and children,” the White House said in a statement.
It is the President’s second quarter salary for 2019 and it is worth $100,000.00 (about NGN36,175,900.00 at today’s exchange rate using Oanda Currency Converter).
Details of the activities the money will be used for was not provided. It will be recalled that President Trump had said that he would not collect his salary while he was campaigning to be elected in 2016.
In a tweet to about the donation, President Trump says he feels good to donate all his President’s salary back to America.
