A consultant nephrologist, Dr. Mojeed Owolabi Olaitan Rafiu, has berated hospital management for not making provision for HIV and hepatitis patients with renal failure when they require haemodialysis, canvassing that such acts should be condemned “even more than we speak against racism and tribalism.”

He said it was the highest height of irresponsibility and inhumanity when hospital management made provision for haemodialysis facilities without factoring in those with HIV and hepatitis.

Dr. Olaitan Omo-Ajuwara, as fondly called, disclosed this on his Facebook page. The medical doctor, who himself is a kidney disease specialist, said that the policy of dialysing only non-infected patients and referring infected ones was “discriminatory and wicked.”

He said such a practice among hospitals should be condemned even more than the way people speak against tribalism and racism.

He concluded that HIV/hepatitis patients with kidney failure should have access to haemodialysis “readily.”

He said:

” I think it is grossly irresponsible and inhuman for any hospital management with haemodialysis facility not to make provision for infected (HIV and Hepatitis) patients. The policy of dialysing only non-infected patients and referring infected ones is discriminatory and wicked.

“This disposition should be condemned even more than we speak against racism and tribalism. Infected patients with renal failure should have access to haemodialysis readily. “
